Setting up IPTV on a Mac takes about 5 minutes: install the IPTV Smarters Pro app for macOS and sign in with the login from your IPTV Canada welcome email. An IPTV free trial login works exactly the same way.

1. How IPTV Works On A Mac

IPTV on a Mac is a player app that streams your channels over the internet with your IPTVV login, on the Mac’s screen or on a TV through AirPlay or an HDMI cable. The Mac App Store has few IPTV players, so the one to use is IPTV Smarters Pro, downloaded from the app maker’s website, which takes your Xtream Codes login directly.

2. What You Need Before You Start

You need your IPTVV login, a Mac on a recent version of macOS and about 5 minutes.

  • Your IPTVV login: the server URL (it starts with http://), username and password from your welcome email.
  • A MacBook, iMac or Mac mini on a recent macOS, Intel or Apple silicon.
  • An internet connection of at least 10 Mbps for HD, 15 to 20 Mbps for Full HD and 25 Mbps or more for 4K.

3. Which Player To Use

IPTV Smarters Pro is the player to use on a Mac: it’s free, has a macOS version, and signs in with your Xtream Codes login.

Player Price Where to get it
IPTV Smarters Pro (recommended) Free The app maker’s website (whmcssmarters.com)

Prefer to watch on an iPhone or iPad and AirPlay it? UHF and iMPlayer are in the App Store; see the Apple TV guide.

4. Install IPTV Smarters Pro

Download the Mac version from the app maker’s website and allow it to open the first time, because it doesn’t come from the App Store.

  1. In Safari, open the app maker’s website (whmcssmarters.com) and download IPTV Smarters Pro for Mac.
  2. Open the downloaded file and drag the app to Applications.
  3. Open the app from Applications. If macOS says it can’t check the developer, open System Settings, Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway, then confirm.

5. Sign In With Your IPTVV Login

Your login is an Xtream Codes login: choose that option in the app, then type the server URL, username and password. Capitals count, and there must be no space before or after.

  1. Accept the terms when the app opens.
  2. Click Login with Xtream Codes API.
  3. Enter any name, your username, your password and the server URL, then click Add User.
  4. Wait while the channels load, then open Live TV.

6. Load The TV Guide, Favourites And On-Demand Library

The TV guide loads on its own with the Xtream Codes login: Live TV shows the channels with the guide next to them, and Movies and Series hold the on-demand library. Then set up the list the way you’ll use it:

  1. Mark the channels you watch most as favourites so they’re one click away.
  2. Use the search box for movies and series rather than scrolling.
  3. Hide the groups you never watch in the settings to keep the list short.
  4. If the guide is empty while the channels play, look for Refresh EPG in the settings.

7. If The App Won’t Open

If macOS blocks the app or the Mac is too old for it, play on your iPhone or iPad and AirPlay it to the Mac or the TV, or use a streaming stick on the TV. Your options:

  • Open Anyway: in System Settings, Privacy & Security, the blocked app appears with an Open Anyway button the first time.
  • iPhone or iPad: install UHF or iMPlayer from the App Store (see the Apple TV guide) and AirPlay to the TV.
  • A Fire TV Stick, Apple TV or Google TV device in the TV’s HDMI port for every night; follow its guide with the same login.

8. Best Picture And Watching On A TV

Give the Mac at least 10 Mbps for HD, 15 to 20 Mbps for Full HD and 25 Mbps or more for 4K, and use Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. To watch on a TV:

  • AirPlay: click the screen mirroring icon in the menu bar (or Control Centre) and pick your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible TV.
  • HDMI: plug the Mac into the TV with an HDMI cable or USB-C adapter and set the TV as the display in System Settings, Displays.
  • Plug a MacBook into power while you watch: on battery, macOS slows the processor and video can stutter.
  • Each screen watching at the same time counts as one connection, so pick a plan with enough screens for your home on the IPTV Subscription page.

9. Troubleshooting, Performance And Privacy

The fix for most buffering is to restart the router first, then the Mac, and to move to Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Other quick fixes:

  • “Invalid login”: check your username and password letter by letter and make sure the server URL starts with http://.
  • Choppy AirPlay: the Mac and the Apple TV must be on the same Wi-Fi band; put both on 5 GHz, or plug the Apple TV into Ethernet.
  • The app feels slow: quit it fully (Command + Q) and reopen it.
  • Buffering only in the evening: your internet provider may be slowing video traffic. A VPN app on the Mac set to a Canadian server helps; see our VPN for IPTV guide.
  • Still stuck? Contact our support team: we answer 24/7 in English or French.

IPTV is a legal technology in Canada when it’s used with licensed content, and the Copyright Act applies to what you stream, so the player is never the risk: the source of the channels is. Download the player only from the app maker’s own website, skip any download that arrives “pre-loaded” with channels, and keep your login to the screens on your plan. Your IPTVV subscription is paid once in CAD, never renews on its own, and is covered by a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an IPTV app in the Mac App Store?

Very few, which is why this guide uses IPTV Smarters Pro from the app maker’s website. UHF and iMPlayer are iPhone and iPad apps you can AirPlay from.

Does it work on an Apple silicon Mac?

Yes. IPTV Smarters Pro runs on both Intel and Apple silicon Macs.

Do I need a VPN for IPTV on a Mac?

No. The service works without one. A VPN helps if your internet provider slows video traffic at peak hours, or for privacy on a shared network.

Conclusion

Your Mac is an IPTV screen in about 5 minutes: download IPTV Smarters Pro from the app maker’s website, allow it to open, sign in with your Xtream Codes login and add your favourites. Keep the Mac on Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, plug a MacBook into power while you watch, and AirPlay or HDMI the picture to the TV when you want the big screen. Still stuck on a step?
